ASTM A36 is the most commonly used mild and hot-rolled steel. It has excellent welding properties and is suitable for grinding, punching, tapping, drilling and machining processes. The ASTM nearest equivalents for JIS G3101 SS400 steel are ASTM A36 and ASTM A283C; the EN equivalent for JIS G3101 SS400 steel is S235JR.
